Good Faith launches new report ‘Questions of Hope and Hate’

On 12 January, the Good Faith Partnership was delighted to launch a new report in collaboration with Hope not Hate in Parliament, titled Questions of Hope and Hate: Faith and Faultlines in a Changing Britain. This report was co-authored by Paul Bickley, an Independent Researcher and Consultant, and Tabitha von Kaufmann, a Consultant at the Good Faith Partnership.

Key Findings

The report explores the growing visibility and politicisation of religion in Britain today. Drawing on in-depth interviews with senior Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Sikh, and Hindu leaders, it examines how democratic fatigue, global crises, and internal changes within faith communities are reshaping the relationship between religion, identity, and public life.

The report concludes that faith can be both a source of division and a force for cohesion. However, through consistent and meaningful government engagement with faith communities, improved religious literacy, renewed national narratives of belonging, strengthened faith leadership, and revitalised national interfaith infrastructure, faith can become a powerful asset in building a more hopeful and united future.

Parliamentary Launch

The report’s Parliamentary launch, sponsored by Anna Dixon MP on behalf of the APPG for Faith and Society, was a resounding success. The event brought together over 100 guests, including 13 parliamentarians, faith leaders, civil servants, interfaith practitioners, and others working at the intersection of faith and public life.

Guests at the event heard from an outstanding set of speakers and panellists including:

  • Anna Dixon MP, Labour MP for Shipley
