Dilwar is an Assistant Professor at Coventry University, a consultant to the Good Faith Partnership and is founding Chair of New Horizons in British Islam, an organisation that promotes critical discussions around modern Muslim identities.

Over the last 25 years he has advised government departments, worked at community level and provided policy analysis and training around inter-faith and inter-community relations, equality, diversity as well as counter-extremism policy. Dilwar was awarded an MBE for services to inter-faith understanding and community relations.
