The Forum For Peace

The Forum For Peace was founded seven years ago in Abu Dhabi in response to a number of challenges faced by the global Muslim community. Led by His Eminence Shaykh Abdallah Bin Bayyah, it has since been dedicated to strengthening Islamic theological narratives of peace building and tolerance in a world of religious pluralism. It has been responsible for leading a number of interfaith initiatives and official treaties such as The Marrakesh Declaration.

The Forum is now branching out to the UK, where the Good Faith Partnership is incubating it as a registered charity. Utilising its experience in faith and civil society projects, GFP have been consulting the Forum on establishing itself within the infrastructures of the British Muslim community and the UK context more broadly.

So far, GFP have built relationships between the Forum and British Muslim, Christian, Jewish communities as well as relevant policy and research institutions such as the Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) Forum. GFP has also been responsible for representing the diversity of the UK’s faith leadership at the Eighth Annual assembly in Abu Dhabi, in addition to showcasing British academics and parliamentarians there.

Looking to the future, GFP hopes to establish an exciting events programme towards strengthening relationships between the Forum and the UK and sparking conversations about what the Muslim community can bring to current discourses of religion and belief in an increasingly pluralistic society.
