GFP Welcome Hub hosts Saturday school for Ukrainians

A school for displaced Ukrainian children, which is part of GFP’s Welcome Hubs model in Bristol, is a great example of how Welcome Hubs have unlocked the resources of civil society to welcome newcomers to our communities in different ways.

The Saturday school in Westbury-on-Trym in the north of Bristol is passing on language skills and traditions to Ukrainian children so that they can communicate with loved ones at home.

Natalie, who attends the school with her daughter, says it is “like a sanctuary” for her family.

The story was picked up by the BBC News website here.

The BBC also quotes Antonina Grebeniuk, founder of Ukraine Aid and Welfare, who said: "We need to keep the traditions because one day we need to go back to our country and we want to make the transition as smooth as possible."
